As was discussed at the membership meeting 6/16, there will be a picnic/equipment party/concert at Crockett Park in Brentwood on Sunday, July 11, 2004 beginning at 3:00pm (tenative). What we would like to do is have a potluck picnic under the pavillion, meaning everyone would bring a "pass around". We are also encouraging everyone who would like some help with their telescope, or showcase their equipment, to bring it out to the park where members from the BSAS will be on hand to offer assistance and answer questions. Finally, beginning at 7:00pm, Crockett Park will be offering a concert as per their summer series. We are asking anyone who is interested in opening up their scopes for an outreach opportunity, to stick around, listen to some great music, and finally point your scopes upwards and welcome the public to have a look! If the weather decides not to cooperate with us (as seems to be happening a lot lately), the rain date is Sunday, July 18, 2004. | I was out there for our first star party at Crockett Park...What a wonderful facility!!! The Park officials were as nice as could be to our group and the "Shelter" was first rate. I would like to encourage everyone to come out and join in the fun. |

Well, the weather looks favorable so far...only calling for partly cloudy skies (and we all know that seems to be a rare occurance these days!) for Sunday, so everything is a go for the picnic/equipment party. We are inviting all members and family, friends and those interested in Astronomy out to Crockett Park in Brentwood beginning around 5pm. Please bring food and drinks, lawnchairs, telescopes, etc. for a fun and educational evening! The concert theme is Bluegrass. Hope to see everyone there!
